Delete your account or data
You can ask us to delete your Splitini account and the personal data associated with it at any time.
In the app — immediate
Section titled “In the app — immediate”If you can still sign in, this is the fastest route and the one we recommend: your signed-in session proves the account is yours far better than an email can.
- Open Profile, then Delete account.
- Read what will be deleted and what stays. The screen shows the real numbers for your account — how many groups, friends and payment methods are involved — rather than a general description.
- Type the confirmation phrase and tap Delete my account.
The deletion happens immediately. There is no waiting period and no way to undo it.
If you have changes you made offline that have not reached our servers yet, the app will ask you to reconnect and let them finish first — otherwise they would be lost.
By email — if you can’t sign in
Section titled “By email — if you can’t sign in”If you have lost access to your account, or would simply rather not use the app:
- Email delete-account@splitini.com from the email address your Splitini account is registered with. No particular subject or wording is needed.
- We will confirm the request and complete the deletion within 30 days.
We may ask you to use the in-app route instead if you can still sign in.
What is deleted
Section titled “What is deleted”- Your account and sign-in credentials.
- Your profile (display name, currency preference, and your language choice if you made one).
- Your name in every group you were part of.
- All payment handles you added (PayPal, Satispay, IBAN, or other details).
- Pending invitations addressed to you.
- Your friend connections, in both directions — they disappear from other people’s friends lists too.
What is kept
Section titled “What is kept”- Shared group history: expenses, splits, and settlements you recorded in a group are part of that group’s shared records for the other members. They are unlinked from your account and no longer attributed to you as a user — your name is removed, and what remains is an unnamed former member carrying that group’s share of the history. Any member of that group can still delete an expense, as they could before.
- Recorded payments stay. A settlement records that one person paid another in the real world, so it is not one person’s to remove: nobody can delete or alter a payment once it is recorded. Every member of the group can see it, with who paid whom, how much, and when.
- Standard server logs retained by our hosting providers for security, for a limited period.
Deleting your account does not settle anything you owe or are owed. The balances stay in your groups, but your name no longer sits next to them — so it is worth squaring up first.
Delete some of your data without deleting your account
Section titled “Delete some of your data without deleting your account”- Your whole account can be deleted in the app (Profile → Delete account), immediately, without emailing us.
- Payment handles can be deleted directly in the app (Profile → Payment handles) — they are removed immediately.
- Expenses you added can be deleted in the app from the expense screen.
- Payments you recorded cannot be removed, by you or by anyone else. If you recorded one by mistake, settle it with the other person directly — the record is there so both of you can see the same history.
- You can leave a group at any time from the group’s settings — unless you’re the last person in it, in which case delete the group instead.
- You can remove a friend by long-pressing them in a group’s members screen. It removes the connection for both of you and leaves shared expenses and settlements exactly as they are.
- For anything else — or if you prefer not to use the app — email delete-account@splitini.com from your registered address describing what you’d like removed, and we will action it within 30 days.
