Settle up & payment links

When a group has debts, the Balances tab lists them as plain pairwise amounts. The ones you’re part of are at the top (“You owe Bob €10.00”); the rest sit behind a line saying how many there are, one tap away. Tap any debt — yours or not — to settle it. Someone else’s debt isn’t someone else’s business here: if you fronted the money and were paid back in cash, you’re the one who records it.

Say how you paid first, under Paid via, and Splitini offers what it can for that method: PayPal and Satispay open the app, a bank transfer copies the account number so you can paste it into your bank, and cash needs nothing. Those shortcuts only appear when you are the one who owes — if you’re recording a payment you received, or one between two other people, there is nothing to send and the sheet just records it.

Why a bank transfer copies instead of opening your bank

There is no standard way for an app to hand account details to whichever bank you use — no shared link format exists. Copying is the honest version: Splitini puts the number on your clipboard and you paste it wherever you actually bank.

Pay with a saved method

Pick how you’re paying under Paid via, and if the person you owe has saved details for that method a card appears underneath with the one thing to do:

• PayPal — Open PayPal and pay, with the amount already filled in.
• Satispay (EUR) — Open Satispay and pay, their link, same idea.
• Bank transfer / other — Copy details, so you can paste the account number into whichever bank you use.

If they haven’t saved anything for that method, the sheet says so — pay them however you normally would, then record it here just the same.

After you’ve actually paid, tap I paid — record, which spells out the amount it’s about to write down. That button is the only thing that records anything; opening PayPal doesn’t.

If the balance changes while you’re paying

If a group-mate adds an expense while the settle-up sheet is open, the amount in front of you does not move. You’ll see a note saying the balances changed — close and reopen to settle the new figure.

That’s on purpose. A settlement records “you paid this person this amount”, not “settle to zero”, so recording the amount you actually paid is always right. But an amount that quietly changed under your thumb would be a good way to send the wrong number.

Note

Opening a payment link never records anything on its own — a settlement is written only when you tap I paid — record. Payment happens in the other app; Splitini just keeps the books.

Recording a manual payment

Paid with cash, or outside a supported app? The manual path is always there: pick Paid via (Cash, Bank transfer, …) and tap I paid — record.

Settlement history

Recorded payments appear under Settled at the bottom of the Balances tab, with who paid whom, how, when and how much. The amount comes straight off the debt above: pay the whole thing and it clears; pay part of it and the rest stays owed.
